Brookfield Acupuncture Center opened its doors in July of 2004. Same as it was then, our mission of providing alternatives for addressing a number of health conditions hasn’t changed. Often times, acupuncture therapy and Oriental Medicine offer greater benefits and contribute to better outcomes than more traditional Western medicine that most people in this country are used to.
In China, and other eastern cultures, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Therapy are seen as a complete healthcare system. As a result, these techniques are more often used and are very effective in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions, such as lower and upper back pain, knee pain, neck and shoulder pain, along with other joint discomfort and orthopedic disorders.
Since Chinese Medicine doesn’t come along with the harsh effects that medications may have, it is a strong alternative to Western medicine in treating many health conditions. Other common conditions that are treated using Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine are: Women’s Health issues (PMS, menopause), Infertility, Headaches, Digestive problems, emotional concerns just to mention a few.
The mission of our acupuncture practice is to provide patients with the best possible care using a blend of proven ancient practices and cutting-edge modern advancements. Each patient is seen as a unique individual and the treatment strategy will reflect that as well. It is tailored to each patient, addressing the root of the problem as well as the symptoms the patient may express, using Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine as well as supplements and other modalities such as Cupping Therapy, Gua Sha Massage, auricular acupuncture, ear seeds, Low-Level Laser Therapy, Electrical Stimulation and Tuina massage.
During your introductory visit, a detailed examination is performed. A treatment strategy is then presented, choosing acupuncture points that will bring the body into balance to promote natural healing.
Having worked in both Eastern and Western Medicine provides me with a better understanding of certain conditions, and ultimately provides patients with a more comprehensive approach that will get better results.
Ed Herrera, owner and founder of Brookfield Acupuncture, has been involved in both Eastern and Western Medicine for over 25 years. After successfully quitting smoking using acupuncture techniques, Ed became extremely interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
